Kezman: Matic Signing'll Plug Mikel, Essien Chelsea Loophole

Former Chelsea ace midfielder Mateja Kezman believes the re-signing of his compatriot and Benfica midfielder Nemanja Matic in the next few days will make the Blues a more formidable side despite boasting of the trio of John Mikel Obi, Michael Essien and Ramires. Kezman who spent a year at the Bridge in 2004/05, playing 39 games and scoring six goals pinpointed central midfield as an area of improvement for the club. The former PSV forward said whilst Ramires has looked good, both Michael Essien and John Obi Mikel have struggled in that role this season and Frank Lampard is approaching the end of the 35-year-old’s career – so Matic could be the ideal acquisition. “The signing of Matic is a great thing for Chelsea because they have struggled in that position this season,” the retired forward told talkSPORT. “They have played a couple of different players there, Ramires, Mikel and Lampard, but it hasn’t worked. “With Matic they will be getting a player who is both offensively and defensively very good. He’s tall, quick and has improved a lot in the last years. “He’s a completely different player to the one who left Chelsea a couple of years ago. He’s one of the best players in the world in that position.”
What do you have to say about this as a Nigerian.....
